Frequently Asked Questions!

Here are a few questions which are asked at most shows we attend, and I hear at least once a month on the telephone!

Others may be added if I am asked them often enough, or if I feel they could do cobra kit builders a favour.

If you have a question for me please do not hesitate to contact me, and I will do my best to help you.

Does your windscreen fit any cobra?

Yes. All cobra windscreens are made to fit around the glass. There is only one size of cobra glass so the fitting of a brass windscreen frame around this will not change that.

Windshields - UK USA Europe

You live and work in Devon , I live upcountry. How can I safely get my windscreen?

We use overnight carriers who deliver anywhere on mainland UK , overnight. As we use custom made boxes, or even crates if more than one windscreen is ordered perhaps with other ancillary items, there should be no problem with despatch. Alternatively you could visit Devon for a nice weekend in the country, we can recommend several places to stay and visit! Another alternative would be to order the windscreen and collect from on of the shows we attend on a regular basis.

You work from the UK , can you supply to USA ?

Yes, I have custom made crates which transport windscreens worldwide. I frequently send cobra windshields to the States, to either manufacturers or private individuals.

How long would I have to wait for a windscreen to be made? What is the average lead time?

Generally not more than 3 weeks, assuming it is not ‘holiday' time. Obviously if I am away I cannot be making the ‘screens. My chrome platers close down for at least 2 weeks around Christmas, and also at the start of the school summer holidays, and one more week at the autumn half term (lucky them, they have more vacations than I do!) Although this does not stop me making the ‘screens it does mean they cannot be finished off.

My windscreen has broken, what can I do?

I would suggest that send the frame to me, minus the staunchions. This can be done by unscrewing the centre bracket and each staunchion from either side and then slipping the frame out of the middle. Wrap the windscreen in bubble wrap etc. and then visit your local bicycle shop to cadge a cycle box, and send it to me. I can arrange collection of this if required. It will be returned in our aforementioned purpose made box so it arrives safely back.
